My foray into start-up life was building a customizible video generation application with the ability to scale with large amounts of data.

IMPACT

The Onvedeo video engine was used by the biggest Real Estate company in the world, Realogy (owner of Century 21, Coldwell Banker, Better Homes and Gardens Real Estate, etc.) among others to generate video listings for their properties nationwide.

Product Design

The Website

Initially Onvedeo was purely a geolocal video sharing app. It wasn't until a few months in we pivoted to service the real estate industry with listing videos. We would take large format data and imagery and pair it with our proprietary video engine that would generate thousands of listing videos at scale. While engineering was building the admin and backend, my focus was designing and developing the forward facing site. Working through many iterations of the homepage in a short amount of time, our product and value propositions were changing rapidly and we adjusted accordingly.

The three targets we would focus on servicing we're agents, brokers and also filmmakers. We were attemtping to build a expansive library of local video content to add to our videos.

Segueing from a company whose main revenue source was advertsing into a business and enterprise focused SaaS model was quite a change. The focus of design efforts would be concentrated on marketing, communication and transaction rather than any advanced interactivity.

Video Anatomy

Proprietary Video Language

We developed a java-based programming language to build the video templates. Every video would compile photos, text and music customized to every brokerage and agent. We would include custom voiceovers and were in the process of integrating natural language processing to optimize our audio track generation. We created multiple themes with varying animation styles allowing users to appropriate based on their personal branding.

Local video would be integrated where available and if requested contracted videographers would film local b-roll footage to add to their films and our library.

In the product's lifespan we were able to garner awards, a significant following and client base. We were accepted as a YC applicant and made it to the final round. We were chosen as a finalist in the Realogy Innovation Summit and became one of their vendors servicing their brokerages nationwide (Century 21, Coldwell Banker, Better Homes and Gardens Real Estate, etc.)

Other uses

While the field of AI was in it's infancy, we we're beginning to plan a way to utilize our customizable video technology to develop social media videos. Using data and NLP we would be able to facilitate the creation of videos targeted to specific user groups.
